"Providing care and education for children aged six weeks to six years."

Rebecca

Centre Manager

Hi! I’m Rebecca and I’m the Centre Manager here at Truganina Early Learning Centre. I have been working in the industry since 2010 and am passionate about providing high quality learning and care. I have completed my Bachelor of Education (Birth to Grade 6) along with a Diploma and Advanced Diploma of Early Childhood Education and a Cert IV in Training and Education. I have been at our service since the beginning and I’m passionate about making sure each and every child feels included and supported and each and that our delivery of education is wholistic for each child. Children learn best through play and through educators scaffolding and extending on their learning. It’s great to see how a small question can turn into a project for the whole year with the children. My hobbies include dancing, reading, travelling, spending time with family and friends eating out, shopping and exploring what Victoria has to offer. I can’t wait to meet you and your little one and welcome you in to our Truganina ELC family.

Donna

Educational Leader and Assistant Centre Manager

Hi! I’m Donna, the Educational Leader and 2IC at Truganina Early Learning Centre. I have been working in the Early Education and Care sector since 2015. I have worked as both an educator and a lead educator. I had a thirst to continue to extend myself which led to me becoming the Educational Leader and Assistant Centre Manager. My passion for this industry grew as I was raising my two children alongside my nephews. The growth and development of my own children drew me closer to understanding how a child grows through their first 5 years and what an important role we as educators play at this time. I am very passionate about inspiring my team to help the children in our care fully meet their developmental milestones. I strongly believe that children have a right to learn at their own pace and in their own learning styles. I also ensure children and provided with a comfortable, safe and friendly environment where they feel safe, secure and supported in their surroundings. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with family, watching Netflix, crocheting and gardening. I look forward to meeting you and your little ones.

I really look forward to getting to know you and your family and developing activites and experiences that best meet the interests and needs of your children.

Karen

Lead Educator, Wombat Room (2-3 Year Olds)

Hi! I’m Karen, a Lead Educator at Truganina Early Learning Centre. After 20 years nursing in hospitals, looking after children and in emergency I decided that I wanted to continue assisting children with additional needs and teaching children to learn and share with their peers. I have now been working in child care for the last 4 years and I am thoroughly enjoying my journey. I enjoy listening to the children telling me their stories and watching them grow. One of my most favourite things to do with children is messy play as it is wonderful for their sensory development. I follow Kathy Walker OAM and find her to be an inspiration in the field of education and parenting. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family and son Harry. I love footy and follow Geelong (Go Cats!). I also really enjoy the tennis and head along to The Australian Open every year. I look forward to meeting you and getting to know you and your children during our time together.

Fadia

Lead Educator, Kookaburra Room (2-3 Year Olds)

Hi I’m Fadia, a Lead Educator at Truganina Early Learning Centre. I have been working in the industry since 2015 and I hold a Diploma of Children’s Services. I started working in the industry during my placement time. I knew this was the career path I wanted to pursue as I loved helping children to grow and develop both physically and cognitively. It is such an amazing and rewarding feeling to know that you are supporting them through some of the most important years of their lives. I love educating and caring for children. Their individual personalities make every day unique and special. On commencement of my time at Truganina Early Learning Centre I felt privileged to be welcomed by the staff, families and children. The unconditional love I receive at work from the children is a great incentive to come to work every day. My hobbies include singing, writing songs, travelling, reading books and many more. Like Lev Vygotsky said “What a child can do today with assistance, she will be able to do by herself tomorrow”.

Neelam

Early Childhood Teacher, Platypus Room (3 Year Olds)

Hi! I’m Neelam, an Early Childhood Teacher here at Truganina Early Learning Centre. I have been working in the industry for 15 years and it brings me endless joy, particularly when I see the children’s faces light up when they have learnt something. I love being around kids and educators in childcare. I love to see my own growth where I get an oppournity to teach new skills and share knowledge with children, staff and families. I like to follow the Vygotsky’s sociocultural theory as it has inspired me a lot as I believe cognitive development of children is advanced through social interactions with other people, particularly those who are more skilled. Outside of work, I am blessed with a caring husband and son. My hobbies include dancing and reading and I’ve recently been enjoying gardening. My favourite quote is actually from Marilyn Monroe: “Keep smiling, because life is beautiful thing and there is so much to smile about”. I look forward to many smiles with you and your children during your time here with us.

Leticia

Lead Educator, Emu Room (3-5 Year Olds)

Hello! I’m Leticia, a Lead Educator here at Truganina ELC. I have been working in the childcare industry for 6 years. It is so rewarding seeing children reach their developmental milestones and knowing that I was apart of helping them achieve them. I come from a big Italian family where I am one of 12 in the first generation of cousins. When my older cousins started having children I would help look after them. I found that I really enjoyed looking after them and watching them grow. My older cousins would always tell me that I was very nurturing. Through this experience I found out that I really enjoyed watching children reach their developmental milestones and my passion for working with children grew. I really enjoy doing group times with the children as it is a time where we all come together as a community of learners and sing, dance, read stories and talk about the things we are learning and what our interests are. Outside of work I enjoying cooking, playing the piano and listening to music. I can’t wait to meet you and your family and help your little ones reach their developmental milestones.
